It’s sizzling in Sonoma Valley and we’re enjoying all that summer brings our way; pool time and chilled wine, flip flops and tank tops, lazy days and easy ways.

Schermeister Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon

When it comes to chilling with the right wine  there are so many refreshing choices. One of my favorites for a warm summer evening  is Schermeister’s Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon.  An afternoon visit to Schermeister’s at the Jack London Village for a creekside tasting is also a great option. Wine maker Rob and his wife Laura are most welcoming and are as delightful as their wines. You can make reservations for a tasting at http://Schermeister.com.

In June and July a favorite summer entertainment in Sonoma Valley  is an evening performance by Transcendence Theater Company’s Broadway Under the Stars at Jack London State Park.  (Learn more about them at http://bestnightever.org ) My husband, Robert, and I recently saw June’s performance of A Chorus Line and it was spectacular.  We had dinner before hand with one of our favorite wine clubs, Talisman Wines.  (Check for their upcoming events at http://talisman.com.)  Of course you can pack your own picnic or make a selection at one of the many food trucks serving the event.  What a treat to wine and dine alfresco surrounded by such natural beauty and to enjoy the energetic performances of the Broadway performers on the most beautiful stage in wine country.

San Diego Hat Co: Women’s Cowboy hat with side bow.

At McCormick’s we’re prepared to help you with your summer events.  Whether your hiking nearby state parks or going to an afternoon wedding you’ll find a perfect hat in our selection of  San Diego hats. From Fedoras to floppy brims, we’ve got styles for any occasion and for everybody in the family. We’ve even got hats and scarves in stars and stripes for your Fourth of July events.

Once you’ve selected the perfect chapeau you’ll want a pair of sunglasses.  We’ve got cool shades for adults and Hipster sunglasses for babies and kids.

Pair of Mary Lake Thompson flour sack towels

In addition we can help you pack your picnic basket with fun napkins, picnic plates, beautiful hand stitched picnic blankets, and wine and cheese accessories. We recommend the vibrant art work of Mary Lake Thompson for our picnic linens, melamine plates and wine bags or consider Crow Canyon splatterware as another great choice for casual dining.

To keep your beverages cold you’ll want one of our fun Swig insulated wine or champagne tumblers.  Take it from someone who is a Swig fan, you’ll want at least two… one for you and one (or more) to give.

Hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am.  When you are in wine country come to Glen Ellen for the afternoon, and be sure to stop by McCormick’s for a visit.  Sheryee
