First of all I have to admit that it has been waaay too long since I’ve posted.  In fact my last post (I’m cringing here) was in October.  The good news is that Spring has arrived bringing with it glorious wild flowers, plenty of sunshine, renewed energy and inspiration.

This spring the Village of Glen Ellen has become the proud home of the Jack London Yacht club.  Yep that’s right a yacht club!!  The yacht club was started as a way to support the Glen Ellen Fire Department and other nonprofit groups.  The sailboats are limited edition models inspired by Jack London’s Snark.  On Saturday, April 27th the sailboats will compete in the Jack to Jack race, a .7 mile course down Sonoma Creek.  Starting at the Jack London Lodge and ending at the Jack London Village.  GPS installed in each boat allow the boats’ progress to be monitored from local venues.  Cameras placed along the creek  banks also allow spectators to watch the race on screens in local restaurants.  Robert and I will be watching our neighborhood yacht as it courses down the creek just behind our home on race day. Jack London’s Snark Right here at McCormick’s we’re seeing signs of spring, too:  Easter/Spring Decor, all new toy section, hand crafted aprons and napkins,  new jewelry and hats.  If you haven’t been in to shop for awhile I’m not sure if you’ll believe all the additions and changes.  We’ve been blossoming and growing just like California Poppies!  Of course our favorites (Milk House Candles, Coyuchi bedding and apparel, Elizabeth W. artesianal bath and body products)  are still available. In coming weeks I’ll tell  you more about the great new merchandise that’s coming into McMerc’s,  as well as more  news from the Village.  Until then happy Spring!!  Sheryee
